Paris: Père Lachaise Cemetery

Père Lachaise Cemetery is at the eastern edge of central Paris. It is a peaceful place, and it was nice to spend a couple of hours just wandering through it and looking at the different kinds of memorials erected over the years. *
A portrait of its time. Many show people with their dogs. *

Memorial to an 18-year-old girl. *
  *
  Deceased politician, now forgotten. †

Memorial to André Gill, a caricaturist with a fine moustache. †
We do not know the symbolism of the pelican. †

Memorial to all the dead. †
