Europe 2011

Odds and Ends

Nick likes to collect photos of some of the signs we see as we travel.
A Hong Kong hotel with a rather unsuitable name for a place that rents rooms by the hour. †
Hong Kong again. It is anybody's guess what (if anything) is meant by the name of this cafe. †
A really unfortunate (although maybe accurate) name for a cosmetic shop in Hong Kong. †
  Grand Bazaar, Istanbul. *
Signs for villas for rent in Oia, Santorini. I just liked the weathered appearance. †
The height of elegance on the main shopping street of Rhodes. †
Tho ducths are thafe. But it doethn't thay anything about wabbits.... †
At Vaison-la-Romaine, adjacent road signs showed the old style ... †
and the rather less attractive new style. †
Some mild confusion in Azay-le-Rideau: turn left to get to Tours and also turn left for all other destinations. †
  Hairdresser in Loches. *
On some of the travel forums that we use, people sometimes express disbelief that a road sign of a red circle with white centre means "No vehicles past this point", so here are two examples. This one indicates a pedestrian street in Santes. †
And this is a residents-only area in Brouage. †
Instructions on how to behave in a Zürich tram. We liked the one prohibiting the use of a saw on the seating. *
Some doors. Nick likes taking photos of unusual doors, preferably in poor repair. Here are some of them.
