Europe 2014

Durnstein, 30 April

After leaving Vienna, we woke the next morning to mist on the river. †
By breakfast time, we had tied up at Durnstein. *
It was an attractive walled village, with a castle at the top of the hill. *

Like many European villages, there were interesting byways. *

Lynn liked some of the shop signs. *
  *
  *
Nick at the top of the village (but not at the castle), surveying the Danube below. *
The main sight, and the reason for calling here, is Durnstein Abbey. *
  *
  *
  *
  *
  *
Then it was back to the Amabella to set off again for Melk.†
passing castles and churches along the way. †
  *

  Aggestein Castle. *

That afternoon, we visited Melk.
