Exeter

  Impossibly picturesque thatched house at Soar Mill Sands, halfway between Bolt Head and Bolt Tail on the south Devon coast.
  St Mary's Abbey, Buckfast. This was the site of an abbey established in 1018 and abolished by Henry VIII in 1539. Benedictine monks arrived at the ruins in 1886 and gradually built a new church on the site of the old abbey. It was completed in 1937.
