Menton, 23-24 June

		Along the way to Menton, we stopped at Thoronet Abbey which had been a Cistercian abbey. *
		It was very plain, like most Cistercian foundations. *

		The cloister was plain, too. *
		*
		*
		Fountain in the abbey grounds ... †
		and an old tree that has been much repaired. †
		After a while, we joined the main road along the Côte d'Azur. There was some beautiful seaside scenery. *

		The yachts were huge. *
		Not all of the Côte d'Azur is attractive!*
		*
		Eventually we got to Menton quite late in the afternoon. *
		*
		The next morning, we looked at Menton beach. *
		We spent quite some time wandering around the compact historic centre of Menton. *

From Menton, we drove through the mountains to reach Briançon.
