Portland and the journey south

We took a day trip from Portland along the Columbia River gorge.

Heading south, we paused at Heceta Head, where the river had brought a large tree down to the shore.

We stayed overnight in Requa, in an old hotel overlooking the Requa River.

Up on the headland, the fog was again rolling in from the sea.

A little further south is Eureka, with some remarkable wooden buildings.

And Art Deco fire hydrants!
