Victoria 2019

Beechworth, 24 May

The rather grand old bank building which now houses Provenance. This is an excellent restaurant with distinct Japanese influences in the food and wine menus. The owner spends some time in Japan each year. *
Sashimi of kingfish with finger lime and pickled wasabi. Very refreshing. *
Nick had teapot soup. Eat the crab dumplings and enjoy the soup in its bowl. *
Hangar steak with Japanese butter and warrigal greens with deep fried potato curls. Amazing flavours and textures. *
Nick's blue-eye and crumbled skin with seaweed. He couldn't manage the braised daikon but otherwise loved the dish. *
Fingers of a set custard and a coconut dish topped with fejoa and passionfruit. Not at all heavy and tasted delicious. *
Called "three cakes" and pronounced excellent! *

To break up the long journey back to Sydney, we stopped overnight in Yass.
