Daylesford, 19-20 May


  Daylesford is a quiet country town, with an interesting hotel facade on its main street. †
  But the highlight, of course, is Lake House. While one can stay, it is an expensive proposition, though luxurious. We chose to stay at a small apartment on the edge of town and dine at Lake House. My winter Magherita to begin the evening. *
  The scallop dish with apple, pine nuts, lemon and raisins. *
  Our French Gamay. *
  Beef. Wagu loin and slow cooked cheek with king brown mushrooms. *
  Nick's pork cooked in buttermilk. ... *
  ... with crackle too of course ... *
  ... and cubes of potato rosti all crisp on the outside and melting on the inside. *
  "The Apple" a white chocolate crust with mousse inside and apple granita. *
  Plum and yoghurt slice with roast plum sorbet. Everything was beautiful, finessed and delicious. *

Then a short journey on to Bendigo.
