Victoria 2019

Nagambie, 23 May

There is not much in Nagambie, but a few km outside the town there is the excellent Michelton Hotel and Winery. *
Our room was one of the best we had in this holiday ... *
but there was a long corridor from the room to reception. *
  The grounds were lovely. *
The hotel is nestled in a bend of the Goulburn River. *
The tower is an architectural feature of the winery. *
View from the top of the tower. *
  There are extensive vineyards. *
  The wine storage vats. †
The riverside stage used for weddings and other occasions. †
The cellar area used for weddings "Plan B" when there is inclement weather. *
Dinner at Muse, the restaurant at the winery. Not the "Muse" Lynn thought we were getting and very poorly patronised that night, about 6 people in all. Venison carpaccio with blue cheese and figs set the mood nicely though and we shared a Michelton Pinot. *
Nick's rabbit terrine which he enjoyed. *
However, his roast chicken was bland. *
Not so the kangaroo with riberry which I found quite delicious, though maybe not as tender as expected. *
The crisp and crunchy chips were a highlight. *
I had a taste of the chocolate and orange dessert and we both had a dessert wine to finish. *

Then on to our last stop in Victoria, at Beechworth.
