Paris, 8-14 July

The building on Rue Balzac, just off the Champs d'Elysees, where we stayed in an apartment on the third floor. Our living room had the corner French window and the two windows next to it, just under the upper cornice.*

The Tuilleries Gardens.*

Relaxing in the Tuilleries at Round Pond.*

Those wanting to be a bit more active, but not much, could hire a model sailing boat.*

The arcade in the Palais Royale.*

And an artistic assemblage there.*

Grande Arch of La Defence.*

Waiting on the steps of La Grande Arch.*

Canal basin at La Villette. We went from here to the centre of Paris on a canal boat.†

Pedestrian bridge across the canal, with the road bridge swinging out of the way of the boat.*

From the Bastille to the Seine, the canal goes underground. This is the lock at the start of the tunnel.*

And this is inside the tunnel.*

The Seine: Pont Neuf with Notre Dame behind.†

The dome at Galleries Lafayette department store.*

About the last remaining windmill in Montmartre.*

When we first visited Paris in 1997, we ate at a restaurant called 27 Gourmet. It's still open, with the same owners, and we ate there again.*

We were in Paris for Bastille Day, with a procession along the Champs Elysees. The cavalry are getting ready.*

Notre Dame cathedral.*

An ornamental pond in front of the Hôtel de Ville.*

Evening on the Seine, near the Île de Cité.†

La Concergerie in evening light†

And the moon over the Tour Eiffel.*

The Eiffel Tower as seen from our apartment in different decorative modes.*
