We arrived in San Francisco mid-morning, after a 13-hour flight across the Pacific, and left our luggage at our hotel. Then took a tour of Alcatraz that afternoon. The next morning, we picked up a rental car and drove South past San Jose, then east to Yosemite National Park. After two nights there, we drove back along a more direct route and then had two more nights in San Francisco.
